Our client is a leading environmental and engineering consulting firm specializing in air quality, emissions testing, environmental compliance, and industrial performance. They partner with clients across a wide range of industrial sectors, providing innovative technical solutions that support regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Field Technician to join their team in Guelph, Ontario.
The Senior Field Technician will lead and execute complex source emissions testing projects for industrial facilities. This position combines hands-on fieldwork with project coordination, technical leadership, and client interaction. The successful candidate will oversee field testing programs, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor junior staff, and maintain the highest standards of safety and data quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and perform on-site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods (e.g., EPA Reference Methods, ECCC).
2. Plan and manage field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.
3. Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are strictly followed throughout testing and reporting processes.
4. Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams to communicate project scope, progress, and findings.
5. Train, mentor, and supervise junior field technicians and new team members.
6. Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling skills equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
7. Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.
8. Keep current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting procedures and technologies.
9. Prepare high-quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation, emissions data summaries, and field observations.
Qualifications
1. Post-secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field is an asset
2. A minimum of 5-years’ experience working in the Air Quality Testing field
3. Practical expertise In OSTC and EPA Source testing methodologies
4. Strong computer and analytical technical “hands-on” skills
5. An aptitude for practical problem-solving
6. Field/site experience is a definite asset
7. Must have a valid driver's license.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
9. Strong people and team skills as well as being highly motivated
10. An ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with no supervision
11. Exceptional organizational capabilities, coordination, and consultation skills
12. Willingness to travel, and work outdoors including working long hours, evenings, and weekends
13. Collect samples at locations that may require working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions
