Live-In Household Manager & Caregiver
Position: Live-in caregiver and household manager for an elderly couple
Location: South Surrey, BC
Compensation: salary + room & board
Start Date: June/July 2026
About the household:
We are seeking a capable, organized individual to manage daily household operations and provide care support for a couple in their 70s. The wife has cognitive impairment affecting her ability to initiate tasks independently. She is physically active and ambulatory but benefits from gentle prompting, modelling and guiding, and structured activities. The husband maintains his own schedule and requires some care as well but is also part of the care team.
Core responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals for the couple (daily)
- Household management: cleaning, laundry, shopping, supplies
- Facilitate the wife's daily activities: self-care esp. dental care
- Provide gentle prompting for activities and guide through modeling for tasks requiring fine motor skills
- Redirect restlessness through structured engagement & standard therapeutic interventions
- Coordinate scheduled activities including HandyDART transportation to Adult Day Program, home health visits, and weekly activity & social schedule
- Communicate regularly with family remotely
- Maintain daily logs documenting care, activities, and household notes
Living arrangement:
Private bedroom in a spacious South Surrey home. You will be part of the household. This is not a shift-based role where you clock in and out. When off-duty, your time is your own, but as a live-in position, flexibility from time-to-time is expected.
What we're looking for:
- Experience supporting individuals with cognitive challenges
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada (citizen, permanent resident, or open work permit; we cannot sponsor LMIA applications)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Comfortable managing a household: cooking, cleaning, coordinating schedules, privisioning/shopping
- Patient, calm demeanor; able to provide gentle redirection without frustration
- Good English communication for coordinating with healthcare providers and family
- Comfortable working as part of a multi-generational and multi-disciplinary home care team
