Job Description – Draftsperson
For over 45 years, Thermo Design Insulation Ltd. has grown and evolved to be a leader in the insulated metal panel industry for commercial, architectural and industrial projects. The controlled environment market was the core focus of TDI in those early years and remains a key part of our business today. We continue to supply and install insulated metal panels, insulated freezer and cooler doors, mechanical insulation and other related specialty products required in food production and storage facilities. TDI’s head office is located in Edmonton, AB, with branch offices in Calgary, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Toronto, Vancouver, West Kelowna, and Winnipeg.
TDI continues to be the leader in building envelope construction technology and efficiency. With the advancement in architectural panels and construction technologies, TDI has been a part of some of the most forward-thinking and energy-efficient construction projects in recent years.
Our pre-construction assistance through Building Information Modelling (BIM) continues to evolve, but our commitment to providing value in a respectful and cooperative environment remains consistent.
We are currently seeking an architectural technologist graduate (or equivalent experience) to join our team as a full-time draftsperson in our Vaughan office. The ideal candidate will be seeking a long-term position with TDI.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Revit certification - architectural practical experience is an asset
- AutoCAD certification - architectural practical experience is an asset
- BIM Cloud experience is an asset – will be required to complete certified training
- Bluebeam experience is an asset
- Must be able to read and understand architectural and structural drawings
- Motivated self-starter who is eager to learn
- Must take direction well
- Strong written and oral communication
- Strong organizational skills
- A one hour online practical exam will be required to be completed by the chosen candidates
The role of Draftsperson will include, but not be limited to:
- Drafting exterior and interior wall systems and associated details using Revit 3D and AutoCAD
- Importing drawings into BIM 360 models
- Providing quantifications for project managers via Bluebeam
