We are seeking a reliable and compassionate PSW to support an adult client living with progressive COPD and possible lung cancer. This role focuses on practical support, monitoring, and accompaniment, especially during upcoming medical treatments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and practical support to clients.
- Understand and adhere to relevant legislation and policies.
- Assist clients in developing their own skills and resources.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Maintain accurate records of client contact and progress.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Meal preparation and/or assistance with meals as needed
- Driving and accompaniment to:
- Grocery shopping
- Medical appointments
- Medication pick-ups
- Occasional trips to Bracebridge, Orillia, and Barrie
- Light household duties (tidying, garbage, basic chores)
- Monitor medical conditions and provide weekly progress updates
- Provide calm, respectful support during treatments and recovery days
Requirements
- Insured and reliable vehicle (driving is essential)
- Experience with seniors or medically complex clients preferred
- Comfortable supporting someone with respiratory illness
- Ability to observe, communicate concerns, and follow care guidance
- Professional, dependable, and compassionate nature
- PSW certification is required (experience matters)
Additional Notes
- Support is especially important during times when family cannot attend
- Schedule and duties may increase slightly as medical needs evolve
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
Location: Gravenhurst area with regional travel
