About the Role
The Business Intelligence Developer supports data-driven decision-making by designing, developing, and maintaining data models, integration pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions that ensure The Royal’s data and analytics environment is accurate, secure, reliable, and performant.
Key Responsibilities

Gather, document, and validate business and technical requirements; design and maintain data models, data dictionaries, data maps, metadata repositories, and related artifacts; and support data integrity, performance, issue investigation, and resolution in accordance with established standards and practices.

Translate validated requirements into scalable Business Intelligence solutions for large healthcare systems.

Develop, maintain, and optimize dashboards, KPIs, data queries, data models, visualizations, and standardized and ad hoc reports to support operational, clinical, and executive decision-making.

Develop, configure, and support data-driven applications using Epic EMR data and industry-standard business intelligence tools.

Build, manage, and optimize ETL/ELT processes, integrating data from multiple sources while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, governance compliance, and system performance.
- Serve as a liaison between users, IT, and external partners to support reporting and analytics requirements. Represent data interests on projects and working groups, provide training and support, and deliver consistent analytics services across The Royal’s multi-site organization.
- Support and optimize BI infrastructure and data products through performance tuning, maintenance, upgrades, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of data governance, standards, documentation, and development practices.

Participate in enterprise projects, including Epic implementation, data migration, system integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
Qualifications

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4-5 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data warehousing, and reporting development.
- Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft reporting and analytics ecosystem, including SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure Data Studio/Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and related Microsoft data and analytics technologies; advanced knowledge of relational databases, data warehousing, business intelligence, and dimensional modeling techniques.

Proven expertise in OLAP/OLTP data modeling, ETL processes, and performance optimization.

Experience applying Microsoft data and analytics tools to build, automate, and maintain reporting solutions in an enterprise environment.

Skilled in data quality troubleshooting, data virtualization, and report automation.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovative solutions.

Effective communicator with strong analytical, organizational, and change management skills.

Experience working within the EPIC Cogito reporting ecosystem, including Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, Radar, SlicerDicer, and other EPIC reporting and analytics tools, is considered an asset.

Experience integrating REST APIs, JSON, HL7/FHIR, and cloud-based healthcare systems is considered an asset
Language Requirements
English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading, and writing. Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.
Salary Range:
52.82 to 61.23 per hour
