Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator / Medical Scribe to join our team and provide direct support to our ophthalmologist. This role is a key position that combines surgical coordination, clinical documentation, and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient patient care and smooth clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the surgical booking process, including scheduling procedures, communicating with patients, and ensuring all required documentation is completed
- Act as a liaison between the physician, patients, operating facilities, and clinical teams
- Assist with pre-operative and post-operative coordination and patient instructions
- Provide real-time medical scribing support during patient consultations, accurately documenting clinical findings, assessments, and treatment plans
- Prepare and review patient charts prior to appointments
- Assist with referrals, correspondence, and other physician-related administrative tasks
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of clinical information into the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Support workflow improvements and contribute to an efficient patient experience
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy and healthcare regulations
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office, surgical coordination, ophthalmology, or healthcare setting is an asset
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working closely with physicians and clinical teams
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems
- Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
