Job Purpose/Summary:
The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for supporting Hospice Peterborough with processing our accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This position also supports the Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Program and other programs as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting (Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable)
· Enter accurate financial data into Hospice Peterborough`s accounting database
· Post transactions involving cash receipts, disbursements and/or accounts payable and receivable to ledger accounts
· Process donations
· Issue tax receipts and distribute by mail and/or email.
· Keep accurate receipts of all financial transactions of the organization
· Attend Finance Committee meetings when requested
· Provide assistance to Manager of Finance and Administration in completing financial reports, prepare and prepare banking deposits, monitor bank transactions, and assist with bank reconciliations as needed
· Provide technical assistance on the preparation of reimbursement requests to staff and volunteers
· Assist in filing duties
· Assist Manager of Finances and Administration
Payroll (only in a back up capacity)
· Process bi-weekly payroll with a high level of accuracy in a timely manor and that all confidential information is maintained
· Responsible to update and maintain personal income tax credits rates, employees pay rates, and benefits deductions if applicable.
· Responsible to update and maintain vacation, sick time, and statutory holiday hour’s balances in Payworks.
· Responsible to process Record of Employments and T4 as required
· Responsible to prepare payroll reports for Ministry submissions
· System administrator for all HR/Payroll processes using Payworks.
· Project lead and content expert for optimizing the utilization of Payworks.
· Maintain records of confidential payroll data staff issues
Organizational Responsibilities:
· Participate in assigned Hospice Peterborough and Palliative Pain and Symptom Management activities.
· Participate with Manager of Finance and Administration in regular supervision meetings and performance appraisals.
· Participate in health and safety training, including WHMIS, and apply this knowledge in the workplace.
· Fulfill all responsibilities in accordance with the by-laws, policies and procedures, and standards of Hospice Peterborough.
· Willingness to accept other duties as required.

Qualifications:
· Degree or College Diploma in Business and/or Accounting
· Minimum 1 year experience in relevant field
· Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
· Demonstrated knowledge of basic bookkeeping including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
· Strong attention to detail
· Proficient computer skills and literacy including MS Office Suites, database management (Sumac and QuickBooks Online is an asset).
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours.
· Bookkeeping experience in the non-profit sector is an asset.
· Knowledge of community health and social service resources an asset.
· Current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Check is required upon the start of your employment.

· Shared office space requires ability to focus in noisy environment.
· Ability to carry using appropriate lifting techniques.
