The Role
Hypercharge is looking for a Product & AI Systems Engineer to help build the software, automation, and internal systems behind a growing EV charging network.
This is not a traditional developer role.
This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, AI, automation, and operations. You will be expected to understand business problems, identify product opportunities, build tools, improve workflows, and help turn early ideas into scalable systems.
You will work directly with leadership on product initiatives, internal tools, AI agents, automation workflows, CRM systems, and customer-facing product experiences. You will be integral in promoting and enabling “AI-first” ways of working across the product & operations functions.
This is a strong fit for someone who wants to grow beyond coding and eventually step into a broader product, systems, or technical leadership role.
What You’ll Work On
You will help build and improve systems involving:
- Product features that improve how customers, partners, and internal teams interact with the Hypercharge platform
- AI agents, automations, and workflows that support execution, reporting, support, and business operations
- CRM, workflow, and automation systems that improve sales, customer success, reporting, and internal operations
- EV charging and energy management software enabling charger monitoring, dynamic load balancing, and demand response for large-scale EV charging installations
- Account, payment, identity, access management, and reporting tools for all sizes of EV charging customer from single-charger installations up to enterprises deploying hundreds or thousands of chargers across North America.
- Internal tools that improve operational efficiency and decision-making
What You’ll Do
- Translate business and operational problems into working software
- Build and ship full-stack product features end-to-end
- Help define product requirements, user flows, and feature priorities
- Develop internal tools that improve team velocity and visibility
- Work with real-world charging data, customer accounts, usage patterns, and operational workflows
- Integrate AI into workflows, automation systems, internal copilots, and product experiences
- Build automations across CRM, email, reporting, customer support, and internal workflows using tools like n8n, AI agents, and MCP / API integrations
- Take early product ideas, prototypes, or internal concepts and turn them into usable systems
- Collaborate directly with leadership to move from idea to shipped product
- Help oversee and guide junior technical talent focused on AI and automation projects
- Balance speed, usability, scalability, and business impact
What We’re Looking For
We care more about intelligence, motivation, product sense and output.
The ideal candidate is someone who can think like a builder, operator, and product person.
You should have:
- Strong full-stack capability, with the ability to build complete systems
- Strong product intuition — you understand what should be built, why it matters, and how users will interact with it
- Interest in AI, automation, agents, CRM systems, and internal operating systems
- Ability to think beyond tickets and contribute to product direction
- Strong sense of UX, usability, and clean product experience
- High output — you ship, test, learn, and improve quickly
- Comfort operating in ambiguity with limited structure
- Ability to prioritize and execute across multiple initiatives
- Desire to grow into a broader product, systems, or technical leadership role
Ideal Profile
This role may be a fit if you are:
- A product-minded engineer who wants more ownership as a key member of a small team
- A fast builder who can move from concept to execution quickly
- A technical operator who enjoys improving business systems
- Engaged with & excited about AI-assisted development, automation, and building practical systems that take advantage of advancing tools.
- Someone who understands software, but also cares about customers, operations, and business outcomes
- Motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment
Bonus Experience
Experience in any of the following is valuable, but not required:
- EV charging, energy management, IoT, SaaS, infrastructure, or hardware-integrated platforms
- AI agents, SLMs, LLMs, workflow automation tools, RAG, or internal copilots
- Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools
- n8n, Zapier, Make, or other workflow automation platforms
- CRM systems, including Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platforms
- CRM workflow design, data hygiene, lead routing, reporting, and sales/operations automation
- Dashboards, analytics, reporting tools, or operational software
- Tools for operations, support, sales, customer success, or finance teams
- Real-time data, APIs, integrations, or data pipelines
Tech / Tools

- Frontend: React / Next.js / Figma
- Backend: Node.js / Python
- Database: PostgreSQL / NoSQL
- Cloud: AWS / Vercel / DigitalOcean
- APIs, integrations, dashboards, data pipelines, and real-time systems
- AI tools, LLM APIs, automation platforms, and agent-based workflows
- Claude Code or similar AI coding tools
- n8n, Zapier, Make, or workflow automation platforms
- CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar tools
- Automation across CRM, email, reporting, customer support, and internal operations
Culture
- Lean team, high ownership
- Fast-paced environment
- Direct exposure to leadership and product decisions
- Public company environment with startup operating speed
- You’ll be expected to think, challenge, prioritize, and ship — not just wait for instructions
