Our client, a manufacturing company located in Port Colborne, ON, is looking for a Production Supervisor to join their team.
What you will do in this role:
- Lead a team of Production Technicians operating a Citric Acid and Citrates production process
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations, policies and procedures for all workers performing tasks in the Purification Department
- Ensure Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements are met for food safety
- Deliver a “zero defect” product out of purification
- Maintain compliance with all health & safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Uphold the achievement of safety targets.
- Ensure the products delivered meet or exceed established quality requirements.
- Safeguard food safety, meeting all requirements.
- Oversee the training and performance of Production Technicians.
- Drive the achievement of budgeted production volumes.
- Manage process control for Wet Milling, Co-Product Processing, Enzymatic Glucose Refining and Royal Production for continuous operations.
- Implement practical continuous improvement (kaizen) initiatives to improve safety, operating results, and sustainability.
- Ensure department is “audit ready” at all times; inclusive of Housekeeping, Kaizen, and FSSC.
- Communicate effectively within the Glucose Management Team and through interdepartmental collaboration.
What you will bring to the role:
- Post-secondary education in one or more of the following areas: chemical or mechanical engineering technologies, stationary engineering, or formal education in chemistry or related plant operations technology.
- A minimum of 2-5 years professional experience within a food or chemical manufacturing industry.
- Leadership abilities in food manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or related industry.
- Adept in Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Experience with DCS or similar process control equipment.
- Skillful and adaptable decision-maker, using critical analysis techniques on available information.
- Ability to implement change and motivate continuous improvement.
- Self-motivated to learn and gain a deeper understanding of plant processes from 1st principles.
- This position requires the ability to perform tasks that are essential to safe and effective operation within a manufacturing environment, including:
- Standing and walking for extended periods during production activities.
- Bending, lifting, and carrying materials or equipment up to 23 kg/50 lbs using proper techniques.
- Safely navigating stairs, ladders, and occasionally working in confined spaces, as required by operational needs.
