Reporting to the manager of Children's Day Treatment Program, the Registered Nurse works with Children in grades 3-7 who have complex mental health challenges in a school-based program setting. The Registered Nurse works within a large multidisciplinary team and is responsible for completing admissions into the program, creating and maintaining milieu management plans, completing individual work with patients based on goals of admission, and attending multidisciplinary case conferences. There is some facilitating and co-facilitating of groups, assisting patients with social, emotional, and behavioural presentation throughout the day. Supporting escalation management, checking and processing of orders as needed. The Registered Nurse also communicates with families as part of patient and family centered care approach. Family work is done with assigned families based on goals of admission. There is a component of supervising students and unregulated professionals with this role.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Active or Eligible Registration with CRNA or RPNs – Active or Eligible Registration with CRPNA College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta.
Preferred Qualifications:
Within the last 5 years, 1-3 years proven skills and experience in psychiatric, medical assessment and crisis intervention. Additionally must have familiarity of the expectations of medical capabilities within mental health and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies.
