POSITION: SENIOR MILLING MACHINIST
WAGE: $38.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on experience.
SHIFT: Afternoon Shift, 10 Hour Shifts. Monday to Thursday, 3:00pm - 1:30am.
As our Senior Milling Machinist, you will work closely with the Machining Supervisor, experience challenges and rewards and have an opportunity to shape and influence our environment.
Our Senior Milling Machinists are responsible for operating manual and CNC Lathe and Milling machines, and all saw equipment. This includes the set-up of jigs & equipment and the machining of required parts to specifications and tolerances indicated on production drawings and work orders. They are also responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment and tools used. Providing assistance to other production areas may be required.
Your Objectives:
- Download CNC Programs; set up and operate CNC Lathe and Milling Machines with fixtures and tooling as outlined on set-up sheets; change and modify programs where applicable.
- Maintain consistent observation and competently select, change, align, secure, and/or adjust cutting tools, offsets, attachments, jigs and fixtures while ensuring proper feed and speed for maximum efficiency
- Perform first part and random sample inspections, ensuring quality adherence; calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics, quality standards, methods and instruments
- Maintain high productivity and efficiency; plan and proactively prepare for next job(s)
- Practice safe work habits; perform routine preventative maintenance; clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment; maintain a clean/organized workspace.
- Identify opportunities for improvement; participate in update and maintenance of set up sheets as well as root cause/corrective action analysis.
Success Requires:
- 7 to 10 years' related of machining experience.
- A Machining Journeyman Certificate
- Machinist / CNC Technology diploma, certifications or courses from a recognized post-secondary school is a requirement.
- Ability to proficiently create layouts, read and work with GD&T, engineering and production drawings
- Ability to use all machinist measurement tools
- Ability to change, set and identify wear of cutting tools, holders and fixtures
- Knowledge in 4, 5, and 6 Axis a significant asset
- Computer literacy and excellent math skills is required; Fanuc control knowledge is a must
- Demonstrated positive attitude, initiative, the ability to work well with others and minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to prioritize
