The opportunity:
The Welder is responsible for welding materials and equipment to help build structures and/or repair broken parts according to specifications. This position will be expected to read blueprints and schematics, clean and check for defects and the shaping component.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Reads and interprets blueprints or welding process specifications
· Follows directions given in layouts, drawings and work orders
· Cleans and checks parts for defects
· Operate welding equipment and flame-cutting equipment
· Operate hand tools
· Operate hoisting and lifting equipment, prepare jigs or set-ups for welding
· Trouble-shoot production problems and take preventative or corrective action
· Recommend changes to improve quality and reduce costs
Other requirements are:
· Certified Welder and/or equivalent experience. Journeyman ticket considered an asset
· Strong attention to detail and organization
· Desire to foster a safety conscious environment and ability to read and adhere to all safety policies
· Ability to work with others and contribute to a positive team working environment
· Ability to work under pressure
· Ability to stand for long periods of time
