The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Client Accounting Manager to take ownership of client files, oversee the quality of bookkeeping work, and help clients improve their accounting systems and processes.

You will work with a team of bookkeepers and accounting professionals to ensure client records are accurate, complete, compliant, and ready for meaningful financial reporting and year-end preparation.
You will help shape the systems, service standards, and processes of a young and growing professional firm.
What You Will Do
Manage Client Relationships
- Serve as a primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients.
- Develop a strong understanding of each client’s organization, operations, accounting processes, and reporting needs.
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding outstanding information, bookkeeping issues, deadlines, and recommended improvements.
- Build trusted relationships by providing responsive, practical, and professional support.
Oversee Bookkeeping Quality
- Take responsibility for the overall accuracy and completeness of assigned client files.
- Review bookkeeping completed by junior and intermediate team members.
- Ensure reconciliations, supporting documentation, sales taxes, payroll-related accounts, and balance-sheet accounts are properly maintained.
- Help ensure clients remain compliant and prepared for government filings, reviews, and year-end accounting.
Improve Accounting Systems
- Assess client accounting workflows and recommend improvements.
- Design and implement efficient bookkeeping processes.
- Help clients select and integrate appropriate applications within their accounting technology stack.
- Troubleshoot QuickBooks Online and related accounting software issues.
- Create standardized workflows, procedures, templates, and internal controls.
Onboard and Clean Up Client Files
- Lead the accounting team when onboarding new clients.
- Review existing accounting records and identify gaps, risks, and required corrections.
- Complete or oversee catch-up and clean-up bookkeeping projects.
- Prepare files for transition to the ongoing bookkeeping team.
- Document processes so recurring work can be completed accurately and efficiently.
Lead and Develop Team Members
- Provide direction and support to junior bookkeepers.
- Review completed work and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Train team members on accounting principles, software, workflows, and client-specific procedures.
- Help assign and coordinate work across the team.
- Encourage accountability, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
Provide Reporting and Year-End Support
- Prepare or review monthly financial reporting packages.
- Help clients understand their financial results, cash flow, and key business trends.
- Identify opportunities to provide additional financial insight and advisory support.
- Prepare organized and complete working-paper files for external accountants.
- Assist with year-end adjustments, information requests, and preparation for corporate income tax filings.
What You Bring
Accounting Experience
- At least ten years of progressive Canadian accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Strong experience with full-cycle accounting for several businesses or organizations.
- Experience managing multiple client files simultaneously.
- A strong understanding of Canadian bookkeeping, payroll, GST/HST, and general compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing files for year-end accounting and corporate income tax preparation.
Technical and Systems Knowledge
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to investigate accounting and software issues.
- Experience implementing or improving cloud-based accounting workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with applications such as Dext, Karbon, Plooto, Payworks, Google Workspace, Loom, Shopify, and PayPal.
CRA and Compliance Experience
- Experience using CRA Represent a Client.
- The ability to recognize potential compliance issues and determine when further professional advice is required.
- Experience responding to CRA reviews, information requests, and account-related inquiries.

A degree and/or professional designation in accounting is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
