PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Truck Driver operates a Tandem Dump Truck on various projects, and Fuel Truck as & when required.
SCOPE
The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment. He will also ensure that accurate and timely information regarding supplies, tools and time are provided and recorded as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Truck Driver is required to:
- operate as a team member in a cross cultural work environment.
- have experience with how to get loaded and dumping a load of gravel.
- follow all required safety procedures.
The Truck Driver performs a wide range of duties as follows:
- Operates assigned heavy equipment and performs some repairs and maintenance activities in a safe manner.
- Practices good housekeeping to keep the workplace clean and orderly.
- Provides information to Forman so that the required forms can be generated in timely manner and are accurately recorded.
- Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the safety concerns related to the operation and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Class 3 Driver's Licence
- Current first aid certificate (standard or emergency).
Experience:
- Five years experience spreading gravel while dumping loads.
- Experience on backing up to Stock Piles
WORKING CONDITIONS
The successful candidate will be expected to work 10-12 hour shifts while on site, on a rotational basis of 6 weeks in and 2 weeks out, with the option of staying longer if preferred. Occupational Health and Safety is of major importance and all personnel are required to follow good work practices, completing tasks in a safe and orderly manner. Some heavy lifting may be required.
