We are seeking an accomplished and entrepreneurial Director of Sales & Marketing to lead our commercial strategy, drive revenue growth, and establish Nakoda Lakeside Lodge as one of Canada's leading luxury resort destinations.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Resort Manager, the Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales, marketing, and revenue strategies that maximize business performance across corporate, group, leisure, wedding, conference, and international markets.
The successful candidate will be a strategic sales leader who can create demand, build strong market relationships, develop partnerships, and position the resort as a preferred luxury destination.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership
- Develop and execute annual sales and marketing strategies aligned with revenue objectives.
- Establish and achieve revenue targets for occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, catering, conferences, events, and total resort revenue.
- Identify new business opportunities across Canadian, U.S., and international markets.
- Build a diversified sales portfolio to support year-round business.
- Participate in company systems training and onboarding programs.
- Develop sales procedures, SOPs, and training resources as required.
- Recruit, train, and develop additional sales team members as approved.
Business Development
Generate new business across multiple market segments, including:
- Corporate meetings and conferences
- Executive retreats
- Association and government conferences
- Indigenous organizations and cultural events
- Luxury leisure travel
- Weddings and celebrations
- Tour operators
- Destination Management Companies (DMCs)
- Incentive travel programs
- International travel partners
- Sports and recreation groups
- Film and production crews
- Resort buyouts
- Social events and galas
Luxury Brand Development
- Position Nakoda Lakeside Lodge as one of Alberta’s premier luxury destinations.
- Develop relationships with luxury travel advisors and preferred partner networks.
- Represent the resort at trade shows, industry events, and sales missions.
- Build strategic partnerships throughout Alberta, Canada, and international markets.
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to protect and elevate the resort’s premium brand positioning.
Marketing Leadership
- Lead marketing strategies in partnership with the Marketing Manager and Resort Manager.
- Oversee digital marketing, social media strategy, website performance, public relations, email campaigns, photography, and brand storytelling.
- Develop annual marketing calendars and campaign plans.
- Analyze campaign performance and optimize return on investment.
- Collaborate with creative agencies, tourism organizations, PR partners, and media representatives.
Revenue Optimization
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, and Revenue Management teams to maximize profitability.
- Participate in regular strategy meetings with the CFO and Resort Manager.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer demand.
- Develop pricing and positioning strategies for transient, group, and event business.
- Forecast occupancy, group pace, and future revenue opportunities.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with:
- Corporate clients
- Meeting planners
- Wedding planners
- Government organizations
- Tourism partners
- Indigenous communities
- Travel advisors
- Event professionals
- Local, national, and international business partners
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive sales leadership experience within the hotel, resort, or destination hospitality industry.
- Proven success selling luxury hotels, resorts, conference centres, or destination venues.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed revenue goals.
- Strong experience negotiating high-value contracts.
- Excellent understanding of luxury hospitality, guest experience, and destination marketing.
- Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel for client meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Luxury resort sales experience.
- Experience with hotel openings, repositioning, or brand development.
- Conference centre or convention sales experience.
- Wedding and social event sales expertise.
- Experience working with Indigenous tourism or cultural destinations.
- Established relationships within corporate, association, government, tourism, and luxury travel markets.
Key Success Measures
The Director of Sales & Marketing will be accountable for:

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
