About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mine Engineer to join their engineering team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. You'll play a key role in mine planning, operational improvements, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives while helping optimize production and supporting the long-term success of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
Mine Planning & Engineering
- Develop and maintain short- and long-term mine plans in collaboration with the Chief Mine Engineer and technical team.
- Support underground surveying activities and ensure mine development plans remain accurate and up to date.
- Assist with mine ventilation planning, monitoring, and optimization.
- Partner with the Rock Mechanics team to maintain effective ground control strategies.
- Support production planning by developing production forecasts, budgets, and cost models.
- Participate in mine risk assessments and develop practical risk mitigation strategies.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across mining operations.
- Conduct process evaluations, time studies, and operational audits to identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
- Work with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to improve mining methods and reduce operating costs.
- Evaluate and optimize material handling processes from underground production through surface storage.
- Assess drilling and blasting practices to improve productivity and minimize waste.
- Research and recommend new mining technologies, equipment, and operational processes to improve overall mine performance.
Project Management
- Prepare business cases and capital expenditure requests, including financial analysis and return-on-investment calculations.
- Manage engineering and capital projects from planning through execution while ensuring timelines, budgets, and project objectives are achieved.
- Assist with annual capital planning and budgeting.
- Coordinate engineering consultants, contractors, and construction activities.
- Ensure project implementation aligns with operational production schedules.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Eligible to obtain or hold a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
Preferred
- 7+ years of mining engineering and/or mine supervisory experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, CMMS, and mining software.
- Knowledge of underground mine planning, ventilation, ground control, and production optimization.
- Experience managing capital projects within an industrial or mining environment.

Pay: $100,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
