Recreation Aide
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Recreation Aide to join our team. This position supports the planning, coordination, promotion, and delivery of meaningful recreational programs, activities, and community outings designed to enrich the lives of our residents. The successful candidate will also assist with the development of monthly activity calendars, resident newsletters, and programs that encourage engagement, wellness, and social connection.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and facilitation of recreational, social, educational, and wellness programs.
- Set up and take down activity spaces and equipment.
- Organize, drive, and accompany residents on outings, shopping trips, and special events.
- Welcome new residents and complete resident interest assessments to support individualized programming.
- Assist in the creation of monthly activity calendars and resident newsletters.
- Encourage participation from residents, families, friends, and volunteers.
- Support fitness and mobility programs in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Assist with volunteer coordination, library services, and resident activity programs.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers during activities when required.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain current best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Recreation Aide Certificate, Recreational Therapy Aide Certificate, or equivalent education.
- Minimum one year of experience coordinating recreation programs or activities.
- Experience working with seniors, including individuals living with dementia, is preferred.
- Current CPR-C and AED certification.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to operate company vehicles, subject to insurance approval.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Creative, flexible, and resident-focused approach to programming.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with residents and their families.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 20 lbs (9 kg) and occasionally up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Demonstrates professionalism, emotional intelligence, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workloads.
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available.
- Must be available to work evenings and every other weekend.
