Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, supporting project planning, and ensuring competitive pricing. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent negotiation skills, and proficiency with industry-standard estimating tools. The Construction Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to deliver precise and comprehensive bids that align with project scope and budget.
Duties
- Develop detailed construction cost estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and drawings using tools such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid.
- Prepare and review bid proposals, including pricing of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor quotes.
- Collaborate with project management teams to assess project feasibility and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and budgets to ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimating activities and update cost databases regularly.
- Support project management during the bidding process by providing technical insights and ensuring estimates meet contractual requirements.
- Stay current on industry trends, material costs, and new construction technologies to enhance estimating accuracy.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other estimating or project management software.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Strong project management abilities with the capacity to handle multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of pricing strategies, market conditions, and material costs within the construction industry.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to analyze complex drawings and specifications accurately to produce reliable estimates.
