We are looking for casual on call Care Aides to join our team at Pinegrove Place. We are a 76 bed Christian, non profit, long term care home located in Richmond, BC.
The Care Aide works under the supervision of the Director of Care or designate and the day-to-day direction of the RN/LPN. The Care Aide performs duties for the provision of care to the residents. Responsible and accountable for all care provided to residents and attitude towards residents, family members and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
Assists residents by providing personal care according to residents identified individual care plan needs.
Encourages and assists residents to participate in social and recreational activities by reminding them of programs; assists resident with ambulation to attend recreational program
Transfers, porters and ambulates residents within Pinegrove Place, utilizing mechanical aides such as lifts, wheelchairs, and walkers as outlined in the resident’s individual care plan.
Ensures residents receive adequate nutrition according to individual care plans by assisting with meals, distributing meals, and nourishments, noting changes in appetite and food preferences.
Enters pertinent resident information by documenting daily/weekly/monthly information in appropriate binders.
Reports observed changes in resident activity level, behavior, or physical well-being to the Nurse.
Reminds residents of their appointments with hairdresser, dentist, doctors,podiatrist, etc. and assists them to appropriate designated areas.
Maintains current knowledge of and complies with all Pinegrove Place's policies and procedures including protocol for infection control and resident safety.
Maintains work area in clean and safe conditions.
Responds to incidents or emergencies in accordance with policy, procedure and training.
Attends unit/care home meetings and education sessions collegially sharing information and problem solving.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide Program. Must be registered with the BC Care Aide Registry
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively
Physical ability to carry out duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment
Must be physically capable to lift, bend down and stand for long periods
