HEAD CHEF / CHEF DE CUISINE – CAFÉ SOUVENIR
Café Souvenir is a Montreal institution that has been part of the Outremont community since 1992.
Over the last few years, the restaurant gradually lost momentum, operating mainly as a brunch spot with limited opening hours. Earlier this year, new ownership took over with a clear objective: restore Café Souvenir to its former status as one of Montreal's great neighbourhood restaurants.
We are currently redesigning our breakfast and lunch offerings while launching a completely new dinner program. The goal is to evolve from a brunch-only operation into a full-service restaurant open seven days a week.
To help lead this transformation, we are looking for a Head Chef / Chef de Cuisine who is ready to take ownership of kitchen operations and build something meaningful.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Managing and leading the kitchen team
- Maintaining consistency and quality standards
- Organizing prep, service, and kitchen workflow
- Creating and maintaining prep lists and par levels
- Inventory management and ordering
- Food cost control and waste reduction
- Training and developing kitchen staff
- Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and professional standards
- Collaborating on menu development and seasonal features
- Ensuring smooth communication between kitchen and front of house
- Solving problems independently and taking initiative
What We're Looking For
- Previous leadership experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or Executive Chef
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Understanding of food costs, inventory, and kitchen systems
- Passion for hospitality and quality food
- Someone excited by the opportunity to rebuild and grow a respected Montreal restaurant
