An exciting opportunity exists to showcase and grow your skills by joining our dynamic Northern Alberta Blood & Marrow Transplant (NABMT) team as a Registered Nurse (RN), focused on supporting patients undergoing or were treated with Cellular Therapy (autologous or allogeneic transplant or CAR T-Cell therapy) within the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI). Using advanced competency skills, you will be responsible for coordinating/supporting the care of hematology patients' Cellular Therapy. The successful RN will be a key member working with a multi-disciplinary team. You will be open to providing and receiving constructive mentorship and to coaching opportunities that strive toward the best in patient focused care. You have proven hematology clinical experience and critical thinking skills, an ability to prioritize, both independently and collaboratively, to ensure the development, implementation, and ongoing administration of client care plans. The RN will identify and assess the holistic needs of patients and their families, providing professional nursing care by utilizing the processes consistent with the philosophy, objectives, and procedures of NABMT Program and Cancer Care Alberta. The RN has an attention to detail and is keen to participate in quality improvement as the program grows. The CCI provides comprehensive cancer services with the goal to lead in research and best practice by using innovative technologies and collaboration to optimize patient care. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in Hematology/Oncology in the past 4 years. A recent final clinical placement on a hematology unit would be considered. Experience caring for patients pre or post Cellular Therapy. Attention to detail. Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching above shoulder, and able to lift a minimum of 25 kg. Must be able to assist with safe patient transfers and other duties related to patient care. Experience using procedures and supporting process improvement. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for safe patient/family care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Strong analytics and organizational skills. O-PREP Foundations or other formal hematology/oncology training completed. Experience with Peripheral Venous Access Devices and Central Venous Access Devices. Demonstrates a professional attitude and ability to foster strong networks. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth through coaching and mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Patient coordination experience. Experience in standard of care and clinical trials cellular therapies. Competency and confidence using Connect Care, specifically Beacon. Experience in the development and delivery of patient and family education for cellular therapies. Specialization certification – CONc, deSouza, etc. A minimum of one year of experience caring for patients pre or post Cellular Therapy.
