About the Company
We are an established forestry contractor, dedicated to sustainable and efficient forest operations. Based in Sussex NB, we are looking for a central organizer to keep our office running smoothly while acting as the logistical hub for our field teams.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Office Manager to oversee daily business administration and coordinate forestry field activities. You will be the "voice of the office" for our field operators, contractors, and trucking partners, ensuring that the business side of our operations keeps pace with our production goals.
Key Responsibilities
Office Management & Administration:
- Manage daily office operations, including reception, mail, and supply inventory.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and expense tracking.
- Maintain digital and physical filing systems for harvest blocks, stumpage fees, and contractor contracts.
- Serve as the primary liaison for HR-related tasks, including onboarding and health & safety programs/documentation.
Forestry Field Coordination:
- Act as the communication link between the office and field supervisors (harvesting, biomass, silviculture, and trucking).
- Coordinate fleet management, including vehicle maintenance schedules and fuel reporting for field trucks and heavy equipment.
- Assist in tracking wood flow data and preparing weekly production reports for management.
- Monitor safety compliance records for all field staff and contractors.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in office management, operations coordination, or a related administrative role. Experience in the forestry, construction, or logistics sectors is highly preferred.
- Education: Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with forestry terminology, maps, or GPS/GIS software is a significant asset.
- Personal Attributes: Strong communicator, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with a diverse team ranging from business/finance to field operators.
