About the Role:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician is a hands-on member of the plant maintenance team responsible for keeping our industrial laundry equipment and building systems running safely and reliably.
While a valid electrical ticket is required, the work spans both electrical and mechanical tasks: diagnosing and repairing production equipment, troubleshooting controls, and performing mechanical maintenance on the machinery that runs the plant, install new rebuilding used equipment etc. We're looking for a tradesperson who is comfortable moving between the electrical panel and the wrench, and who takes ownership of equipment uptime alongside the rest of the maintenance crew.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on industrial laundry equipment, including CBW tunnel washers, press extractors, dryers, flatwork ironers, folders, conveyors, pumps, motors, and related systems.
- Diagnose and repair control systems, including VFDs, PLCs, sensors, and low-voltage controls.
- Carry out mechanical work including bearings, belts, chains, pneumatics, steam and condensate systems, valves, and pumps.
- Execute the preventative maintenance program on assigned equipment and building systems to comply with organizational standards and regulations.
- Maintain building systems including plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and emergency systems in good working order.
- Support safety and security systems and help ensure the facility meets all regulatory standards.
- Respond to breakdowns during production to minimize downtime, and communicate equipment status clearly to the Maintenance Manager and production team.
- Assist outside trades, contractors, and service personnel during repairs, installations, and external inspections.
- Adhere to established corporate policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environmental.
- Complete and record maintenance work orders, PM logs, and equipment history accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, tools, and shop.
- Available for call-ins and after-hours support.
Qualifications:
- Red Seal (Interprovincial) Certificate of Qualification as a Construction or Industrial Electrician, or a valid BC Certificate of Qualification, in good standing.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a maintenance environment, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or production setting.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience maintaining production machinery — this role requires strength in both electrical and mechanical work.
- Working knowledge of industrial controls: VFDs, MCCs, PLCs, and switchgear.
- Working knowledge of building systems: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, steam, and emergency systems.
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and relevant BC provincial regulations.
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence and good driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across both trades.
- A team-oriented approach, comfortable working alongside other maintenance staff, production teams, and contractors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Self-directed and able to manage and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced production environment.
- Committed to safe work practices and compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, CMMS / work-order systems an asset).
Hours and Working Conditions:
- Onsite, full-time.
- We operate on a 7-day-per-week schedule, 365 days per year. Shift assignment and rotation may change over time, but consistency in scheduling is the goal.
- Participation in an on-call / call-in rotation.
- Working in the vicinity of industrial laundry equipment, steam, moisture, and temperature extremes; must be physically able to stand, bend, climb, and lift for extended periods.
Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
