Burquitlam Animal Hospital is looking to add a Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a busy, privately owned small animal practice that has served the community for over 60 years. We have 5 veterinarians on staff and work closely with local specialists. We are proud to be the main clinic for the Pacific Assistant Dogs Society (PADS), and the Metro Vancouver Transit Police K9 division.
Position Description:
The ideal candidate will practice proper time management skills, demonstrate strong communication and work ethic with their colleagues, and eager to learn on the job. Ideally, the candidate will have prior experience however we are willing to train the right individual. Preferably, the hired individual will be available to work 15-30 hours per week including the ability to work on the weekend.
Responsibilities:
· Cleaning the clinic thoroughly between appointments/treatments and for end of day.
· Assisting doctors and technicians in procedures and appointments.
· Interacting with clients in a respectful, professional manner.
· Potentially able to train in reception is a possibility (would require training with booking appointments and billing out clients).
· Handling/restraining patients safely.
· Attending to hospitalized patients throughout the day.
Qualifications:
· Organized and timely with the ability to multitask efficiently.
· Strong demonstration of communication with clients and colleagues.
· The capability to work well in a team setting as well as individually.
· Able to demonstrate customer service skills.
· Professional manner.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.25-$20.00 per hour
