What You’ll Do
As a Food Service Manager, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing daily kitchen operations, supporting staff, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. You will contribute to enhancing the quality of life for residents through nutritious, appealing, and well-presented meals.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing day-to-day food service operations
- Ensuring resident satisfaction through meal quality, presentation, and customer service
- Planning and executing special meals, themed events, and seasonal menus
- Maintaining compliance with Ministry and Public Health standards, including accreditation readiness
- Supervising food preparation and delivery to ensure quality and consistency
- Managing inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships within budget
- Recruiting, Training, mentoring, and evaluating dietary staff
- Enforcing food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety practices
- Supporting occasional weekend or evening events as needed
What You Bring
- CSNM membership (required) and in good standing
- 1–2 years of food service supervisory experience, ideally in a long-term care or retirement setting
- Strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills
- A resident-first mindset with a compassionate, respectful approach
- Creativity in menu planning and event execution
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks with a sense of urgency and professionalism
- Familiarity with accreditation and legislative requirements in Ontario
- Sound knowledge of food production and procurement practices
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Current Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid Food Handler Certification (preferred)
- Conflict resolution or leadership training (an asset)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 8-hour shifts
- Occasional evening/weekend availability for events
Work Location: On-site (Halton region)
Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
