Our team brings the Gold Rush era to life through immersive retail experiences, interpretive storytelling, and culturally grounded products — including Indigenous-made and locally sourced goods.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Seasonal Retail Associates are the heart and soul of M&D (2026) Ltd.'s visitor experience — the friendly faces welcoming guests, sharing stories, and keeping our five historic shops running at their best every single day. Associates may be placed at any of our five shops: Mason & Daly General Merchants, C. Strouss Dry Goods & Provisions, McPherson's Watchmaker Jeweler & Goldsmith, McMahon's Confectionery, or Eldorado Gold Panning & Gift Shop. WHAT YOU'LL DO
● Provide warm, welcoming, and engaging service to all visitors
● Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately
● Deliver light interpretive storytelling aligned with Barkerville's historical period
● Restock shelves, rotate inventory, and maintain clean, period-appropriate displays
● Wear period-appropriate clothing and maintain the historic atmosphere of your shop
● Support merchandising, seasonal setup, and shop opening/closing procedures
● Cross-train to support multiple shops as operational needs require
● Follow all applicable M&D (2026) Ltd. and site safety policies
WHAT YOU BRING
● A friendly, outgoing personality and genuine love of people
● WHMIS certification (required; training provided if needed)
● FoodSafe Level 1 (required for food-handling shops — McMahon's and C. Strouss)
● Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
● Comfortable navigating uneven historic boardwalks and varied indoor/outdoor settings
● Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset but not required
