Matrix HR is recruiting on behalf of a
leading North American Energy Services client for a
Senior SAP HR Functional Analyst to support a
large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation program!
This contract opportunity is based in Calgary, Alberta, with a hybrid work arrangement of three days in the office and two days working remotely. While Calgary-based candidates are preferred, remote candidates located within Canada may also be considered for the right experience. The contract is anticipated to begin in August or early September 2026 and run through March 31, 2027, with a strong possibility of extension.
What You'll Do:
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in designing and governing modern HR processes while supporting one of Canada's largest enterprise SAP implementations. Working within the client's SAP Plus Program, you will collaborate with business leaders, technical teams, and system integration partners to ensure HR processes align with SAP best practices, support clean-core principles, and deliver scalable solutions across a complex enterprise environment.
As the Senior SAP HR Functional Analyst, you will:
Lead the functional design and governance of SAP S/4HANA HR (HCM) processes, including:
Hire-to-Retire lifecycle
Payroll
Compensation
Time Management
Facilitate Fit-to-Standard workshops with HR stakeholders and business leaders.
Recommend SAP standard solutions while minimizing unnecessary customizations.
Partner with the System Integrator to review, validate, and approve functional solution designs.
Design and validate integrations between SAP S/4HANA and:
Support improvements to the Workday-to-SAP integration landscape.
Develop functional specifications and support:
Support data readiness, cutover planning, and go-live activities.
Collaborate with HR, Information Services (IS), Finance, and business stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Provide functional leadership while driving continuous improvement throughout the SAP transformation program.
10+ years of SAP HR/HCM functional experience.
Demonstrated experience supporting at least one SAP S/4HANA or major SAP HCM implementation.
Strong functional expertise in:
Payroll
Compensation
Time Management
Hire-to-Retire processes
Hands-on experience integrating SAP with:
Workday
SAP SuccessFactors
Proven experience facilitating Fit-to-Standard workshops and supporting clean-core SAP implementations.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across HR, business, and technical teams.
Experience with one or more of the following is considered an asset:
SAP Fieldglass integrations
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
SAP HCM Payroll
Workday HCM
Experience within the Energy, Utilities, or other highly regulated industries
SAP, Workday, PMP, Agile/Scrum, or ISTQB certifications
Location: Calgary, Alberta (Hybrid)
Three days in the office and two days remote each week.
Remote candidates located within Canada may also be considered.
Standard 40-hour work week.
Occasional travel to Calgary or Houston project offices may be required.
