Position Overview
The VP, Portfolio Management, Investing & Oversight is accountable for the end to end digital experience that enables how portfolios are constructed, managed, monitored, and reviewed across Richardson Wealth and IA Private Wealth.
This role bridges Investments, Advisory, Compliance, Operations, Data, and Technology to deliver a modern, compliant, and scalable investment and portfolio management experience for advisors and clients. The focus is not product management of investment solutions, but rather how investment and portfolio management comes to life digitally across advisor and client journeys. The VP plays a critical leadership role in advancing the Wealth businesses’ digital strategy, improving advisor productivity, strengthening compliance by design, and elevating the client experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Portfolio Experience Leadership
- Own the digital investment and portfolio management experience across advisor and client channels, from proposal through ongoing portfolio management and review.
- Partner with key stakeholders including the Wealth Management Programs and Portfolio Advisory Services and Advisor Experience teams to define and continuously improve advisor workflows for:
- Portfolio construction and model selection
- IPS creation, alignment and suitability validation
- Rebalancing and ongoing portfolio maintenance
- Performance, risk, and fee transparency
- Ensure the client facing experience clearly communicates portfolio insights, performance, and progress toward goals.
Portfolio & Model Enablement
- Partner with Wealth Management Programs and Portfolio Advisory Services and Advisor Experience teams to digitize model portfolio management, including:
- Model lifecycle governance (approvals, versioning, documentation)
- Change notifications and advisor workflows
- Embedded controls for drift, risk tolerance, and concentration
- Enable scalable portfolio management capabilities such as tax aware rebalancing, householding, and portfolio monitoring.
Compliance, Risk & Governance
- Embed regulatory and suitability requirements directly into digital journeys, ensuring compliance by design across Richardson Wealth and IA Private Wealth.
- Partner closely with Compliance, Risk, and Legal to ensure:
- Auditability of advice and portfolio decisions
- Clear evidence of client acknowledgement and disclosures
- Automated exception reporting and resolution workflows
Data, Insights & Analytics
- Define portfolio analytics and insights delivered digitally, including risk, performance, asset allocation, and portfolio diagnostics.
- Partner with Data & Architecture and other key stakeholder teams to establish standards for benchmarks, security master data, pricing, and performance calculation.
- Leverage data to deliver actionable insights for advisors at the book and household level.
Platform Integration & Operational Efficiency
- Align portfolio management workflows with trading, operations, and custody platforms to improve straight through processing and reduce manual effort.
- Partner with Operations and Technology to:
- Reduce exceptions and NIGO rates
- Improve advice to execution timelines
- Enhance reliability and scalability of portfolio related platforms
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a senior thought partner to Wealth leadership on digital investment and portfolio strategy.
- Lead cross functional forums and decision making across Investments, Advisory, Technology, Compliance, Data, and Operations.
- Influence at the Director and VP level without direct authority, aligning diverse stakeholders around shared outcomes.

Profile & Experience
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in wealth management, investment platforms, digital product leadership, or portfolio related roles within a regulated financial services environment.
- Deep understanding of portfolio management concepts, advisory workflows, and dealer operations (including suitability, KYC/IPS, and regulatory obligations).
- Proven experience leading cross functional digital initiatives that span business, technology, compliance, and operations.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and navigate complex stakeholder landscapes.
Preferable Experience
- Experience within a Canadian investment dealer or private wealth firm.
- Exposure to model portfolios, discretionary/advisory platforms, or managed account structures.
- Familiarity with portfolio management, trading, or performance reporting systems.
- Experience modernizing legacy advisor or investment platforms at scale.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $130,000-$145,000.
The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, and the consideration of internal equity.
Richardson offers a competitive total rewards package in addition to the base pay, which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a group RRSP matching plan and paid time off.
