Job Summary
Perfect Berries Inc. is seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, tractors, loaders, and dump trucks, and will also be comfortable performing mechanical work on that equipment. This role involves a mix of excavation and earth-moving tasks during the operating season and equipment maintenance and repair during the off-season (winter months and rainy days when machines can’t run), ensuring safety and efficiency throughout all operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment such as tractors, loaders, and dump trucks to perform excavation, grading, and site preparation tasks on the farm
- Perform mechanical work, maintenance, and repairs on equipment during winter months and rainy days when field operations are not possible — primarily on the excavator, but also on dump trucks, tractors, and other machinery as needed
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to keep all equipment in safe, reliable working condition
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and carry out repairs, from basic fixes to more involved mechanical work
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks efficiently
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating excavators and other heavy equipment such as tractors, loaders, and dump trucks
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose problems and perform maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment
- Ability to work safely and efficiently while adhering to safety standards
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- Self-motivated and able to stay productive during off-season maintenance periods
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
