Job Overview
The Composite Repair Technician specializes in the repair, manufacture, and assembly of composite products, ensuring the highest quality standards. This role requires expertise in repairing and fabricating aircraft parts using, fiberglass, resin, and carbon fiber, including hand, vacuum, and infusion lamination processes. Responsibilities:
· Review project scope of work (SOW) and assist in preparing customer quotes.
· Monitor additional work requests (AWRs) and coordinate with customer support for approvals.
· Act as the central communication point between stakeholders and regularly update the facility schedule for work in progress (WIP).
· Manage labor time entries for defects to ensure accuracy for future job quoting.
· Assist purchasing in determining the acceptability of alternate parts based on approved data.
· Maintain equipment, materials, tools, and processes to ensure production standards are followed.
· Support project activities, coaching and mentoring apprentices in composite repair and fabrication.
· Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and internal policies/procedures, addressing any issues to meet requirements.
· Review work orders for technical accuracy, ensuring conformance with customer requirements, engineering designs, and quality standards.
· Develop and manage project completion plans to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals.
· Maintain safety and environmental compliance within the department.
Position Expectations:
Safety: Follow Aero’s health and safety policies, promote safe operating conditions, and ensure proper use of PPE
and equipment. Notify supervisors of hazardous conditions and actively encourage a culture of safety.
Quality: Maintain responsibility for the quality of your work, adhering to Aero’s quality system and ensuring compliance with process control instructions, specifications, and standards. Identify and address non-conforming products and assist in implementing corrective actions as needed.
Teamwork: Foster a positive and collaborative working environment. Work constructively with others and contribute to a cohesive team dynamic within an open workplace.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
· 10 + years of experience in aviation composite repair required.
· Familiarity with Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) procedures and requirements preferred.
· Knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
· Experience with aircraft maintenance software (e.g., Corridor) is an asset.
· Possession of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license is an asset.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
· Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
· Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
· Willingness to work overtime when required.
· Reliable transportation to and from work.
