Building Science Project Associate, Vancouver, BC
Our office in Vancouver, BC is looking for a Building Science Project Associate to assist with design and condition assessment of buildings and providing technical expertise to our building science projects in areas such as residential, commercial, institutional, municipal, federal, and healthcare.
In this role, you will:
- Provide project support for Asset Management, Building Envelope and structural projects
- Conduct field investigations related to both building condition assessments and envelope repair/evaluation projects
- Prepare written reports inclusive of cost analysis and design recommendations
- Preparing in-depth Building Condition Assessment reports for government, private owners and institutional lenders
- Assist with the development of contract documents, including plans, details and specifications for additions/modifications/renovations to residential, commercial and industrial buildings
- Conduct field investigations, both visual and destructive testing, to provide evaluation of building envelope systems
- Prioritize and deliver multiple small projects, from beginning to end, with supervision
- Liaise with clients, design team consultants and contractors to ensure all project work is compliant with the design documents, while ensuring the projects will be delivered on time and on budget
- Use initiative and judgment to resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, investigate design and field engineering difficulties
- Work with Senior Engineers; taking direction as/when required.
You will be a great fit if:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and/or a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (required)
- Previous experience in building science is an asset
- Specialization in Building Envelope and Structural Engineering is an asset
- Willingness to learn and grow with the local team to deal with variety of the building science projects across the province of BC
- You have knowledge of North American building codes and standards (required)
- You have experience with concrete and masonry restoration, cladding and glazing upgrades, etc. (asset)
- You have access to a reliable vehicle with a valid Driver’s License for travel to client sites (required)
- You are willing to work on site and deal with Contractors
- You are comfortable with working at heights or in confined spaces
Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid: 4 days in the office to start)
Compensation: $50,000 to $65,000 CAD or more, depending on experience
