JOB DESCRIPTION
Ontario Shores is currently seeking a Social Worker, reporting to the Clinical Manager of the Complex General Psychiatry A CGPA area. The successful candidate will be a Social Worker with sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues. Responsibilities include: psychosocial assessments; individual, group and family/couple therapy; liaison with community social agencies; active involvement as a member of an interdisciplinary team and discharge coordination and planning.
The assignment is to work in our Complex General Psychiatry A Unit. CGP A is a unit providing recovery-based care to patients with severe and persistent mental illness requiring intensive rehabilitation support towards community reintegration. The goal is to assist in the development of a goal-oriented rehabilitation plan that allows for appropriate community placement.
Requirements:
- An MSW is required.
- The successful candidate must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
- Current CPR – Level HCP is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery.
- 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
- An in-depth knowledge and experience of the challenges involved in community reintegration of shorter-stay psychiatric inpatients.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to Implement and model the Recovery philosophy in all aspects of care as a Recovery champion
- Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers
- Meditech experience preferred
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social/mental health work.
- Thorough knowledge of social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community.
- Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy and crisis intervention skills.
- Knowledge of concurrent disorders an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Review Board process
- Knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy is preferred
- Ability to work in a clinic model within surrounding communities
- The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
- Must possess a class "G” license in good standing with own vehicle and appropriate insurance as a bonafide requirement
- Variable hours may be required due to patient demand.
