Pladec Day Care Centres Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization incorporated in 1982 that operates two licensed child care centres in the City of Kingston. Our centres provide high-quality care for children aged six weeks to twelve years, supporting up to 112 child care spaces daily. Our team includes an Executive Director, site supervisors, and over 20 early childhood educators, supported by a dedicated parent volunteer Board of Directors that meets monthly to guide governance, program development, and operations.
Pladec operates in compliance with the Ministry of Education and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), as well as KFL&A Public Health and local fire safety regulations.

Position Summary
The Board of Directors of Pladec Day Care Centres, a non-profit organization, is seeking an experienced and values-driven Executive Directorto oversee the operations of our two licensed child care centres located in Kingston, Ontario.
Reporting directly to the Board, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, oversees financial direction, and supports high-quality early learning programs aligned with Ontario’s legislative and funding frameworks. The successful candidate will balance operational excellence with community engagement and strong governance practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance & Board Relations
- Report directly to the Board of Directors and attend Board meetings
- Provide regular operational, financial, and strategic reports
- Support the Board in policy development and strategic planning
- Implement Board-approved policies and organizational goals
- Ensure compliance with organizational by-laws and governance best practices
2. Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
- Support Site Supervisors in ensuring both centres operate in full compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education regulations
- Maintain all licensing documentation, policies, and procedures
- Lead Ministry licensing inspections and ensure timely follow-up on action items
- Oversee Serious Occurrence reporting and compliance requirements
3. Financial Oversight & Funding Accountability
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets in collaboration with the Board Treasurer
- Ensure accountability and reporting for the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system
- Oversee fee subsidy administration and wage enhancement grants
- Monitor cash flow, expenditures, and financial sustainability
- Support annual audits and financial reporting requirements
- Oversight of monthly payroll and end of year report
4. Leadership & Human Resources
- Supervise Site Supervisors and program staff
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Employment Standards and staffing ratio requirements
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, performance management, and professional development
- Ensure Registered Early Childhood Educators remain in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture
5. Program & Quality Assurance
- Ensure implementation of Ontario’s Early Learning Framework
- Promote inclusive, play-based, and child-centred programming
- Conduct regular quality assurance reviews and site visits
- Support continuous improvement planning across both locations
- Engage with external supports to ensure quality of service
6. Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the organization’s representative within the community
- Build partnerships with families, local agencies, and community organizations
- Lead enrolment growth and community outreach initiatives
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all operations
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Education, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation and membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators is preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education, leadership experience, and demonstrated knowledge of licensed child care operations will be considered
- Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a licensed Ontario child care, education, or human services setting
- Previous supervisory and team leadership experience required
- Strong knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Ministry licensing processes, and CWELCC funding
- Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and reporting
- Experience in a non-profit or board-governed environment preferred
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Working Conditions
- Regular travel between two centre locations
- Attendance at evening Board meetings as required
- Active presence in classrooms and outdoor environments
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
