Position: HACCP and CTPAT/PIP Specialist

We are looking for a dedicated HACCP and CTPAT/PIP Specialist to join our team and help us maintain the highest standards in food safety and supply chain security.
Job Summary:
The HACCP and CTPAT/PIP Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining food safety (HACCP) and supply chain security (CTPAT/PIP) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. This role includes conducting audits and working closely with terminals and operations to integrate safety protocols. As a leader in safety and supply chain security, the HACCP and CTPAT/PIP Specialist is expected to align with TransX Core Values, including Teamwork, Safety, Innovation, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Safety and Security Compliance (HACCP)

Understand and stay current on HACCP requirements.

Implement and maintain HACCP certification across terminals.
-
Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
-
Conduct audits to identify risks and ensure food safety standards are met.

Prepare terminals for (re-)certification audits.
Supply Chain Security (CTPAT/PIP)
-
Stay up to date with CTPAT and PIP requirements.
-
Maintain CTPAT and PIP programs, including risk assessments and security policies.
-
Conduct risk assessments, develop security policies, and manage compliance with regulatory standards.
-
Ensure we have the required course content to instruct drivers and staff.
-
Create new policies and procedures to remain in compliance.
-
Ensure all required policies and procedures are in place for compliance and that they are being followed in each terminal.

Update the CTPAT and PIP portals when required.
-
Conduct audits and prepare terminals for validation audits.
-
Investigate incidents of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) and Internal Auditing

Maintain expertise in Canadian Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
-
Work with the Health and Safety team to improve OHSMS.
Continuous Improvement and Special Projects
-
Regularly perform special projects and assignments as needed.
-
Conduct research and evaluate opportunities for continuous improvement.

Participate in procurement projects for software solutions to enhance procedures and training.
-
Work with key stakeholders and service providers on the successful and effective implementation of new software solutions.
Roadside Compliance
-
Assist and educate drivers on E-logs, DVIR, Hours of Service and TDG regulations, CVSA inspection standards, LCV standards and permit conditions.

Investigate incidences of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
Training Courses, Review, Development, Reporting

Ensure employee training meets OHS, CTPAT/PIP, and HACCP standards.

Provide and document driver training courses.

Develop continuous improvement plans and provide regular reporting.

Provide regular reporting on OHS, CTPAT/PIP, and HACCP training completion.
Maintain the L3 driving simulator operationally, program customised driving scenarios as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:
-
Strong expertise in HACCP, CTPAT, and PIP standards.
-
Ability to conduct comprehensive audits and manage compliance.
-
Ability to provide assistance to staff and management regarding safety and security.
-
Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. regulations and standards relating to the transportation industry, including hours of service and weights and dimensions.

Strong knowledge of Canadian Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, databases, and fleet management software.

Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
-
Certification or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
-
5 years of experience in food safety, supply chain security, or transportation industry preferred.

Certification in HACCP or CTPAT/PIP is highly desirable.
-
LCV, PDIC, and TDG instructor certification with the Manitoba Trucking Association.

Internal auditor certification with RPM and COR is desirable.

Experience in incident investigation and conducting comprehensive internal audits.
