Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Safety Coordinator to support our centralized safety function. This is an entry-level to junior role focused on maintaining safety systems, supporting audits, and ensuring accurate and consistent implementation of safety standards across the organization.
Working under the direction of the Director of Safety, this role plays a key part in strengthening compliance, improving data quality, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a decentralized safety model.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Systems & Database Management
- Maintain and update centralized safety databases and systems (e.g., audit platforms, compliance tracking tools)
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of safety data entered by business units
- Upload and organize safety documentation, including procedures, audit records, and compliance evidence
- Assist in standardizing data entry practices across all locations
- Generate basic reports and dashboards to support safety tracking and decision-making
Audits & Compliance Support
- Assist with internal and external safety audits, including documentation preparation and follow-up tracking
- Monitor audit action items and support business units in closing gaps
- Support compliance tracking against provincial/state regulations and internal safety standards
- Participate in periodic reviews to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
Standards, Policies & Regulatory Tracking
- Support the maintenance of safety standards, procedures, and policies within centralized systems
- Track updates to applicable legislation, codes, and regulatory requirements
- Assist in integrating new or updated standards into company systems and documentation
- Support consistency of safety requirements across business units
Operational & Administrative Support
- Provide day-to-day support to the Director of Safety and central safety team
- Assist with coordinating safety initiatives, projects, and communications
- Support incident documentation tracking and corrective action follow-up
- Prepare materials for safety meetings, audits, and reporting
Continuous Improvement & Process Support
- Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, tools, and data quality
- Support implementation of system enhancements and standardization initiatives
- Assist in improving audit readiness and documentation efficiency
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the safety function
Qualifications
Education
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Business, or a related field (or in progress)
Experience
- 0–3 years of experience in a safety, compliance, administrative, or data-focused role
- Internship or co-op experience in safety or compliance considered an asset
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Comfortable working with databases, spreadsheets, and systems
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles or regulations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
