Greater North Foundation is seeking a professional, organized, and community-focused Housing Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of two seniors’ self-contained apartment buildings (42 units) and 36 family housing units at our Lac La Biche location. This position plays an important role in supporting safe, affordable, and well-maintained housing while ensuring compliance with provincial legislation, Housing Management Body requirements, and organizational policies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to respectful tenant relations and quality housing services.
Position Summary
The Housing Manager is responsible for the administration, operation, and occupancy management of seniors’ independent living accommodations and family housing programs. The role includes tenant relations, leasing, rent calculations, maintenance coordination, budgeting support, reporting, and ensuring compliance with the Alberta Housing Act, regulations, and organizational policies.
The Housing Manager will work collaboratively with tenants, contractors, and senior leadership to maintain positive living environments and efficient housing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage applications, intake, eligibility, and placement processes for seniors and family housing programs.
- Maintain waitlists and ensure housing allocations comply with applicable legislation and policies.
- Conduct tenant orientations, move-ins, move-outs, and unit inspections.
- Administer rent calculations, and annual income reviews in accordance with provincial guidelines.
- Monitor rental accounts and follow organizational procedures regarding arrears and collections.
- Address tenant concerns, complaints, and conflict resolution in a professional and respectful manner.
- Assist with annual budgets and operational reporting
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive tenant information.
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and preventative maintenance standards are maintained.
- Work closely with maintenance staff and contractors to prioritize repairs and monitor service quality.
- Ensure compliance with the Alberta Housing Act, Residential Tenancies legislation, Occupational Health & Safety requirements, and organizational policies.
- Foster positive working relationships with tenants, families, community agencies, and staff.
Qualifications/Skills
- Post-secondary education in business administration, property management, social services, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in housing management, property management, affordable housing programs, tenant relations, and housing legislation is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Sound decision-making and leadership abilities.
- Compassionate and respectful approach when working with seniors and families
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
