As the Compensation Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing compensation programs across the organization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating and continuously improving compensation programs, policies, and practices to align with organizational goals and market trends.
- Conducting job evaluations and determining appropriate job classifications and salary grades for new and existing positions.
- Maintaining job descriptions, job codes, and related compensation documentation.
- Providing trusted, data-driven compensation guidance to HR teams and business leaders, including recommendations for new hires, promotions, and other compensation decisions.
- Supporting annual compensation activities, including salary reviews, incentive programs, bonus administration, and variable pay processes.
- Managing compensation-related initiatives such as market pricing, pay equity, and job evaluation programs while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Participating in compensation surveys and performing market benchmarking to maintain competitive and equitable pay practices.
- Analyzing compensation data, preparing reports and presentations, and delivering meaningful insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Developing and documenting compensation processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
- Assisting with compensation communications, training initiatives, and the rollout of new programs and processes.
- Serving as an internal subject matter expert by providing ongoing support and creative solutions for complex compensation matters.
- Bachelor's degree or post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience, including at least 3 years focused specifically on compensation.
- Hands-on experience with job evaluation, market pricing, and compensation analysis.
- Knowledge of pay equity principles and compensation best practices is highly desirable.
- CCP designation, or progress toward achieving it, is preferred. CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with HRIS platforms and compensation systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations.
