Title: Environmental Health Technician
Salary: $67,432 - $82,040 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Regular hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Park Royal (Metro Vancouver) location on the ancestral Coast Salish Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations – Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy). Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway in Spring 2027.

About the role
As Environmental Health Technician, you will – Provide environmental health technical services under the direction of an Environmental Health Officer or Supervisor, on behalf of Environmental Health Services, First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), and First Nations communities in British Columbia.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have-
Education, Training and Experience:
Completion of one year of post secondary education in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, or other related field. One (1) year of experience working with equipment, techniques, or methodologies used in the collection of scientific data and samples, data entry and management of scientific data, and working with or leading community projects and/or teams, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge

Basic knowledge of First Nations traditions and etiquette.

Knowledge of First Nations in British Columbia, including different cultures, customs, priorities, and issues.

Knowledge of basic environmental health practices related to water, communicable disease, sanitation, and health.

Knowledge of the Environmental Health Drinking Water Safety Program.

Knowledge of procedures related to water quality monitoring, both microbiological and chemical, including sample collection, labelling, handling, techniques, and practices.

Knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices for the operation of monitoring and sampling equipment.

Knowledge of data collection, record keeping, data entry, manipulation, and retrieval techniques.
