TREA is a non-profit charity with a goal to educate members and community to protect the environment, stay informed and take personal action. TREA has established numerous programs and partnerships on waste and fossil fuel reduction, active transportation, and relocalization over time. TREA encourages citizen participation and innovative projects.

Salary - 35 hours x 8 weeks x $17.20, Start date June 15. Application deadline June 6.
Responsibilities
Communicating via email and in person
Support maintenance sessions and information sessions/tours for two community food forests, a community pollinator garden and neighbourhood boulevard veggie patches
Support work with community gardens, neighbourhood events, and popup markets
Help organizers with a long-term community-led food security plan and map resources, Help with website, social media and promotional materials
Attend community events, discuss environmental topics
Criteria
- Candidate must be between the ages of 15 to 30 at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
Required Abilities and Skills
Position offers a wide range of skills and networking opportunities –
- Interest in gardening, local food, food security and community well-being
- Ability to plan, organize, manage time and competing priorities, implement, research
- Helpful if participant has some experience in working with volunteers
- Ability to creatively solve problems, communicate well both in writing and verbally
- Experience with leadership situations, a collaborative work style, self-motivated
- Good computer , website work and social media skills necessary.
