St. John Council for Ontario (SJCO) is a voluntary agency dedicated to improving the health, safety and quality of life of Canadians through training and community service. We are currently seeking a confident, energetic First Aid/CPR instructor to join our Northeastern Region.
- Instruct First Aid and CPR courses
- Instruct specialty courses including Joint Health & Safety, Wilderness first aid and Mental Health & Wellness
- Instruct Youth courses: Home Alone and Babysitting Basics
- Courses will be taught at SJA branch facilities and off-site locations primarily in the Northeastern areas, although occasional instructing in other areas of the region may be required
- Oversee overall organization of instructor rooms at the branches and complete monthly inventory for each branch and restock branch classrooms with appropriate supplies
- Update classroom and media kit laptops with new training slides, as required at each branch
- Provide back-up administrative coverage: responding to training inquiries, processing registrations and product sales
- Assist with coordinating Instructor Development workshops
- Represent branch at community/corporate level events i.e. trade shows, presentations or wellness days
- Maintain safety data sheets and workplace safety notice board at facilities at branches
- Market courses and products to students during classes
- Assist with various duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience:
- Instructional experience / willingness to complete Instructor Development Program, provided by SJA
- Excellent customer service / interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills; both written and oral
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills Microsoft Office
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to travel within the Northeastern area as required
- The nature of the position will require occasional weekend work
- Previous work experience within a health and safety role preferred but not required

- Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle required
