Leon Lebeniste is seeking a Millwork Engineer
We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Millwork Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in millwork design, coupled with a passion for high caliber craftsmanship and an eagerness to continually enhance engineering efficiency & effectiveness. We ask for :
- Degree in related field preferred but not required
- 3+ year’s experience in cabinetmaking or design/drafting in an architectural millwork environment
- Proven experience as a millwork engineer with a strong track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- High proficiency using parametric CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SWOOD and Space Claim is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite ( Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. ).
- Comprehensive knowledge of technical drawing & production documentation standards.
- Strong foundation in cabinetmaking techniques, materials and hardware.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; detail oriented and exceptionally organized.
- A commitment to contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and familiarity with lean manufacturing
- principles.

Job Description
The Millwork Engineer plays a critical role in translating architectural designs into precise plans that meet our high standards of quality and craftsmanship. Using Solidworks and SWOOD, you will generate shop drawings and models for design approval and fabrication. Your expertise in CAD software and knowledge of cabinetmaking techniques will be essential in driving project success. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and a commitment to continuous improvement.
You are responsible for :
- Interpreting architectural drawings and collaborating closely with project managers, designers, architects and fabrication team to develop detailed technical drawings, comprehensive specifications and accurate production documentation.
- Utilizing parametric CAD software (Solidworks & SWOOD) for creating and refining precise models for CNC machining, fabrication and installation.
- Visiting job sites to gather field dimensions and ensure designs fit the allotted space, maintaining accuracy in site measurements and clarity in the documentation of dimensions.
- Identifying potential design or functionality concerns, providing input for drawing approvals and working with relevant parties to address and resolve any issues.
- Evaluating and selecting the most efficient and practical method for fabrication and installation of designs, working with the department to standardize processes where applicable.
- Providing clear and effective communication with internal teams and clients, ensuring project goals are met, challenges are promptly addressed and final products align with both estimations and quality expectations.
- Maintaining and developing systems for tracking design process history, fabrication, procurement and installation of millwork units; keeping detailed records of changes to ensure they are reflected in approved drawings and captured in change orders when exceeding original scope.
- Perform take-offs for sheet goods, lumber and hardware to support procurement efforts.
- Provide support to fabrication and installation team throughout the project lifecycle, revising models and documentation as needed.
- Staying current with industry trends, software advancements and best practices to support innovative design and production solutions.
