We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Audio Visual (AV) Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support meetings, conferences, weddings, banquets, and special events by setting up, operating, and maintaining audio visual equipment throughout our hotel and event spaces. You will work closely with the Events, Banquets, and Sales teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences while ensuring all technology performs seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, test, operate, and dismantle AV equipment for meetings and events, including:
- Projectors and displays
- Sound systems and microphones
- Video conferencing equipment
- Lighting systems
- Staging and presentation equipment
- Operate and troubleshoot in-room AV control systems and wall-mounted control panels, including powering on/off displays and projectors, selecting input sources, and adjusting room audio levels to meet client requirements.
- Perform pre-event equipment checks and troubleshoot technical issues quickly and professionally.
- Provide on-site technical support during events.
- Coordinate with event planners, banquet staff, and clients to ensure all AV requirements are met.
- Maintain AV equipment inventory and report maintenance or replacement needs.
- Ensure cables, equipment, and event spaces are organized and comply with health and safety standards.
- Assist with room turns and technology resets between events.
- Support hybrid and virtual meetings using platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Webex.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
Qualifications
- Experience in audio visual support, event production, hospitality, or a related technical field.
- Working knowledge of integrated AV control systems including operating wall-mounted touch panels to control displays, projectors, source selection, and room audio.
- Knowledge of audio systems, video displays, projection, lighting, and conferencing technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting AV equipment under time-sensitive conditions.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, and move equipment for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in hotels, convention centres, or event venues.
- Familiarity with digital mixing consoles, wireless microphone systems, and video switching equipment.
- Basic networking knowledge related to AV systems.
