Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
The Intern, Detail Planning reports to the Detail Planning Supervisor in Production Support. This role will support the production planning teams during the ship construction and systems commissioning process. It is expected that the intern will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed plans to help sequence work in support of turning on systems.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

- Enrolled in a 2 nd or 3 rd year Engineering program or related field.
- Ability to apply inventory and material management advanced practices.
- Knowledge of document control systems and databases.
- Ability to work well independently with limited direction and in a team environment.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to explain rules and procedures clearly.
- Time management skills and ability to work on several issues simultaneously.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to improve production processes.
- Attention to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience in utilizing ERP software tools for material and inventory planning preferred.
- Experience in running python scripts and task automation preferred.
Working knowledge of CAD software suite and document control systems and databases (Navisworks, Ship Constructor and AutoCAD preferred).

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $28.00/hour.
Start Date of Internship: Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday, April 30th, 2027 (8-Months).
