Program Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
The Cranbrook Food Bank Society’s mission is to steward the collection and free distribution of donated, rescued and purchased food, and give it to those in need. We share resources and work collaboratively with partners across the hunger relief network and promote a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusion.
The Program Manager is a key member of the Cranbrook Food Bank Society's leadership team. This position oversees all aspects of volunteer coordination, program planning, systems, partnerships and customer service with a focus on forward planning.
With over 80 active volunteers and a high-volume, fast-paced work environment, this role requires strong leadership, adaptability, excellent interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to upholding the dignity of every person we serve.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide leadership, coaching and day-to-day support to all team members, while fostering a positive and collaborative environment
· Responsible for volunteer recruitment, screening, onboarding, training, scheduling and recognition events
· Maintains Volunteer Handbook and Volunteer Information Database
· Responsible for all front office customer service activities, including reception, appointment bookings, and donation receipting. In addition, supports Link2Feed client database, ensuring confidentiality
· Ensures public and client information through signage, brochures and message boards
· Ensures all client, donor, and volunteer information is maintained with Privacy and Confidentiality
· Acts as primary contact for customer service inquiries for clients, donors, volunteers, and the public
· Acts as primary contact for new local partnership opportunities
· Working closely with the Executive Director, identify and implement strategies for new service programming, fundraising and community events
· Assists with food rescue and related statistics reporting
· Tracks organization food programming data, participation and impact metrics
· Supports website maintenance and social media management
- Supports the development of Food Bank policy, procedure and processes, incorporating community and client feedback as required
· Represents the Food Bank at external meetings (as required), occasional media interviews and in any correspondence.
- Participates in the Cranbrook Food Bank Health and Safety Program to ensure the well-being of all workers, clients, and visitors.
· Supports the Operations Manager as required
- Performs other duties as directed by the Executive Director or the Board of Directors.
Qualifications
· Post-secondary education in Administration, Social Services, Non-Profit Management, or a related field is preferred or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
· Experience working with volunteers and in community-facing roles.
· Strong organizational, multitasking, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong computer literacy with Office productivity suite and an ability to learn as required. Experience with social media platforms would be an asset.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Occasional travel to local meetings.
· Criminal record check required.
· FOODSAFE certification is an asset.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and work flexible hours as needed
· Valid driver's license and driver's abstract required.
Working Conditions
This role combines administrative and operational work, requires multitasking, teamwork, and regular interaction with a diverse group of clients and volunteers. Some lifting and movement throughout the facility will be involved.
