Community Engagement Facilitator
Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Community Engagement Facilitator supports Alzheimer Calgary’s education, outreach, and community engagement initiatives through the delivery of accessible dementia education, community relationship-building, and inclusive engagement opportunities.
This role supports caregivers, professionals, volunteers, and community members through education, event coordination, outreach, and partnership development. The position also contributes to Alzheimer Calgary’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and culturally responsive service delivery by helping reduce barriers to participation and strengthening connections with diverse communities.
The role combines community engagement, education delivery, event coordination, and collaborative partnership development to support dementia-inclusive communities and increase awareness and access to Alzheimer Calgary’s programs and services.
Key Responsibilities
Education & Community Engagement
- Plan and deliver dementia education sessions, workshops, presentations, and learning opportunities for caregivers, professionals, community organizations, and the public.
- Support professional education initiatives including ABC Pro and other community learning opportunities.
- Assist with the development and adaptation of educational resources and materials that are accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive.
- Support outreach and relationship-building efforts to increase awareness and participation in Alzheimer Calgary’s educational offerings.
- Promote understanding of the diverse experiences of people living with dementia and care partners across communities.
Event Coordination & Community Gatherings
- Support planning, coordination, promotion, and execution of community events, educational gatherings, support group events, and engagement initiatives including TAD and other Alzheimer Calgary events.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and community partners to support successful event delivery and participant experience.
- Assist with event logistics, communications, registrations, resource preparation, and evaluation activities.
- Support welcoming, accessible, and inclusive gatherings that foster connection, peer support, and community engagement.
Community Partnerships & Inclusion
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, professionals, and diverse communities to strengthen access to dementia education and supports.
- Support Alzheimer Calgary’s organizational commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging through outreach and engagement efforts.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration, outreach, and community capacity building.
- Represent Alzheimer Calgary at community events, outreach activities, and collaborative initiatives as required.
Evaluation & Organizational Support
- Gather participant and stakeholder feedback to support continuous improvement and responsive program development.
- Support data collection, reporting, and evaluation activities related to education and community engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure programs remain relevant, sustainable, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Participate in team meetings, organizational initiatives, and professional development opportunities.
General Responsibilities

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Services, Education, Community Development, or related field.
- Minimum one year of experience in community engagement, education, event coordination, public speaking, or dementia-related services.
- Experience working with diverse communities and inclusive engagement approaches considered an asset.
- Knowledge of dementia and adult learning principles considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual platforms including Zoom.
This position requires flexibility to support in-person and virtual engagement opportunities, including occasional evening and weekend events.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
