Position Summary
The Art Consultant will demonstrate a deep understanding of the artist, his philosophy, and his work. You’ll guide visitors through a curated and emotionally engaging gallery experience designed to build lasting collector relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome visitors and introduce the gallery’s collection of limited-edition and artist proof artworks by Sean Schuster.
- Create a warm, professional, and welcoming environment for every gallery visitor.
- Present artwork in private viewing rooms both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Deliver a complete gallery presentation using professional communication, strategic storytelling, and proper lighting techniques.
- Engage visitors in meaningful conversations to uncover their connection to the artwork and understand their interests and motivations.
- Present pricing confidently after establishing the artwork’s story, craftsmanship, and value.
- Learn and communicate the story, technique, and emotional narrative behind each artwork.
- Represent the Sean Schuster brand professionally and positively at all times, both inside and outside the gallery.
- Build strong collector relationships through exceptional communication and follow-up.
- Enter and manage client leads using Pipedrive CRM.
- Proactively follow up with potential collectors by phone and email.
- Maintain regular communication with collectors throughout the sales process.
- Keep organized and accurate client records and notes.
- Reconnect with past collectors to generate future opportunities and strengthen long-term relationships.
- Process sales paperwork accurately and handle transactions professionally.
- Meet or exceed gallery sales goals and performance expectations.
- Learn and use gallery systems including Pipedrive, Square, Google Drive, and related software platforms.
- Maintain the gallery’s pristine appearance, including dusting, vacuuming, organizing displays, and preparing presentation spaces.
- Assist with inventory management, receiving deliveries, and uncrating artwork shipments.
- Help maintain current pricing materials and gallery information.
- Support organization of office materials, rollout storage, and gallery supplies.
- Communicate professionally with collectors regarding deliveries, repairs, or service-related matters.
- Collaborate closely with the Gallery Director on complex sales opportunities and pricing discussions.
- Participate in ongoing sales training, coaching, and gallery meetings.
- Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled shifts, meetings, and presentations.
- Continuously deepen your understanding of the artist, the gallery’s mission, and each individual image.
- Maintain a polished, professional appearance consistent with the gallery’s luxury brand standards.
- Assist with special events, collector evenings, and private gallery viewings.

Experience
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience preferred
- Luxury retail, fine art, interior design, or high-end hospitality experience considered a strong asset
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
Education and Knowledge
- High School Diploma required
- College degree preferred
- Knowledge or appreciation of fine art and photography considered an asset
Compensation
Compensation includes a combination of hourly pay and commission during the initial three-month training period. Following training, consultants transition to a commission structure supported by a base hourly draw.
Top-performing consultants have strong earning potential, with additional bonuses available for consistently achieving weekly and monthly sales milestones.
Pay: $3,000.00–$8,000.00 per month
