Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Floral Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support daily floral operations, assist customers, and contribute to creating basic floral arrangements and plants.This role offers an opportunity to work in a vibrant retail environment, engaging with customers and enhancing their shopping experience.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a floral shop, garden centre, retail, or customer service environment is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of fresh flowers, plants, greenery, and basic plant care.
- Ability to identify different flower varieties, seasonal products, and common indoor and outdoor plants.
- Passion for flowers, design, gardening, and creating beautiful customer experiences.
- Basic floral design skills, including arranging bouquets, centrepieces, and maintaining floral displays, are an asset.
- Comfortable caring for plants, including watering, pruning, cleaning, and maintaining healthy displays.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Friendly and professional communication skills with customers and team members.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move floral products, plants, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time throughout the workday.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and support daily floral shop operations.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and seasonal peak periods (Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and special events).
Preferred Experience:
- Floral design certification or formal training is an asset.
- Experience handling fresh flowers, potted plants, and floral inventory is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with floral selections, providing knowledgeable recommendations and excellent customer service
- Support the creation and assembly of floral arrangements, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
- Manage merchandising displays to attract customer attention and promote seasonal or promotional products
- Operate POS systems for sales transactions, including cash handling and processing payments accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the floral department, including inventory management and stock replenishment
- Support landscape maintenance tasks around the store premises as needed
- Handle e-commerce orders efficiently, ensuring timely fulfillment and delivery coordination
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and exceptional customer experiences
