Paulson Development Ltd. builds the infrastructure that keeps communities connected. We're an underground utility contractor focused on horizontal directional drilling and fibre optic installation.
The Role
We're hiring an experienced HDD Operator to run our drills from setup to pullback. You'll be a key part of the crew, making calls in the field and keeping projects moving safely and on schedule.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Run horizontal directional drills to install conduit, cable, and other underground utilities
- Design and execute bore plans using site information, utility locates, and project specs
- Coordinate with your Locator to hold accurate depth, alignment, and path
- Read and apply blueprints, permits, work orders, and locate tickets
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the drill and support vehicles
- Fill out daily paperwork including hours, production reports, and maintenance logs
- Keep existing underground infrastructure protected and the public safe at all times
- Work in line with our safety program, provincial regulations, and environmental requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience operating HDD equipment
- Working knowledge of Vermeer drills
- Background in fibre optic and underground utility installations
- Familiarity with ground disturbance procedures and safe digging practices
- Strong safety mindset on every job
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Comfortable traveling for out-of-town work during the week, with occasional weekend travel
- Valid driver's licence
Assets (Not Required)
- Class 1 driver's licence
- Current tickets in CSTS 2020, Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance, and WHMIS 2015 — any missing certifications will be covered by the company before your start date
