Job Overview
We are currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Tagalog-speaking Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide quality in-home care and companionship to clients in Brampton, ON. The ideal candidate must be fluent in Tagalog and able to communicate effectively with Filipino clients and families while delivering respectful, culturally sensitive care.
Candidates with experience supporting clients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are strongly preferred. The successful applicant should be patient, calm, attentive, and confident in managing memory care needs and responsive behaviours in a safe and respectful manner.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene support
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation
- Provide specialized support for clients with Alzheimer’s and dementia
- Use redirection, reassurance, and memory care techniques to support client safety and comfort
- Offer companionship and emotional support
- Support clients with meal preparation and feeding assistance
- Perform light housekeeping related to client care
- Monitor and report changes in client condition, behaviour, or cognitive status
- Ensure client comfort, dignity, and safety at all times
- Accompany clients to appointments or community activities when required
Requirements
- Must be fluent in Tagalog and English
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Alzheimer’s and dementia care
- Valid PSW Certificate
- Valid First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification
- Valid TB Test Reports (Step 1 & Step 2)
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Previous home care or senior care experience is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualities
- Filipino caregiving experience or familiarity with Filipino culture
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional, respectful, and compassionate attitude
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
- Experience managing responsive behaviours associated with dementia
- Ability to work independently and maintain client confidentiality
- Flexible availability for morning and evening shifts
