Future of Engagement (FoE) is a non-profit organization with the start-up mindset and the goal of making our democracy work for all communities in Canada. FoE leverages technology and data analysis toge marginalized and underrepresented communities in all aspects of Canada’s politics.

Job Description
As a Development Officer, you'll help build the fundraising engine behind a movement to make Canadian democracy work for everyone. You'll follow up with community members met at the door, write the stories that turn supporters into donors, and learn directly from organizers how grassroots campaigns are built. By the end of the summer, you'll have hands-on experience in fundraising communication, storytelling, outreach, and relationship management and a real sense of what it takes to grow a movement from the ground up.
Tasks and Abilities
- Reach out to community members met through canvassing, share FoE's impact, and turn their interest into donations
- Write fundraising emails, newsletters, and short stories that bring FoE's work to life for supporters
- Help plan and run local events by sending invitations, tracking RSVPs, and following up with attendees.
- Keep contact lists and outreach records organized so the team always knows where each relationship stands
- Support grant writing and proposal development for partnerships and equity-focused initiatives
- Track outreach and program outcomes to strengthen reporting and future fundraising campaigns
- Assist with in person canvassing when needed
Key Skills and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication, with an eye for clear, persuasive messaging
- Comfort building relationships and starting conversations with people from different backgrounds
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to keep track of contacts, follow-ups, and deadlines
- Self-motivated and able to manage your time independently
- Background in communications, marketing, social work, or political science is an asset
- Speaking multiple languages is an asset
Essentials
2 month contract
$18.25 an hour, 35h/week
Must be under 30 years of age with either canadian citizenship, permanent residency or refugee status
